Kristen Brown is a doctoral candidate in the Department of Epidemiology. Under the direction of Drs. Sharon Kardia and Ana Diez-Roux, Kristen studies the effect of the social environment on gene expression. Kristen earned her bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences and Psychology from Rutgers University where she graduated with honors in 2010. She also holds a master's degree in Human Genetics from the University of Michigan. Kristen has been previously employed as a bench scientist at the University of Arizona, where she studied the role of Tgfb-2 signaling pathway in heart valve development, as well as at the University of Michigan, where she investigated basal lamina alterations in heart failure.
